Today's Good Thing: Abbey Magic
Time: 1:20 pm
ABBEY MAGIC looks the one to beat. The lightly-raced ten-year-old has done well over fences for Henry de Bromhead completing a hat-trick in 2018 and, following a two years lay-off, was consistent in five outings last season finishing up with a decent third to Rapid Response in a valuable mares handicap here at the Festival meeting. Sapphire Lady won twice over hurdles and got her chasing career off to a bright start with an impressive win at Thurles last autumn. However, she subsequently dropped away tamely in the straight at Cork in December and has not been seen since. Make My Heart Fly has proved a grand servant to connections winning six times but needs to bounce back after jumping poorly on her last start at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting. Denise Foster is also represented by Felicidad who jumped well when scoring at Kilbeggan but was not as fluent at Killarney last time. ABBEY MAGIC ran right up to her useful best when third in a valuable mares handicap here last month, so is clearly the one to beat. Sapphire Lady and Felicidad can do battle for minor honours.
Today's Good Thing: Cabaletta
Time: 2:55 pm
The Daily Good Thing Result
In a competitive affair it may pay dividends to side with the Roger Varian-trained CABALETTA, who is aiming to record her third career victory. After beating the subsequent Ribblesdale Stakes winner on debut, the daughter of Mastercraftsman claimed Listed honours before being highly-tried in the back end of the campaign – including in the Group 1 Fillies & Mares Stakes. The four-year-old looks poised to strike in ideal conditions and, should the race turn into a stamina contest, she can edge it over Oriental Mystique, who appears to be her main danger after a creditable reappearance over this trip at Goodwood. La Lune completes the shortlist after claiming the Nottinghamshire Oaks on her latest outing, although she may have to settle for minor honours in this company.
Today's Good Thing: Colombe
Time: 6:15 pm
The Daily Good Thing Result
COLOMBE was beaten off a 2lb lower rating on her only previous foray into handicap company, but she looked a much improved filly when returning to action with a Windsor win. Henry Candy’s filly should have plenty more in the locker and is preferred to Toptime, who seems to have speed to burn and will be something for Colombe to take aim at. Rose All Day could prove to be the pick of the remainder. COLOMBE looks a progressive sprinter and she’s very difficult to oppose in her bid to follow up her Windsor win. A mark of 70 looks more than reasonable and she will take all the beating. Toptime looks to be the biggest danger after a couple of respectable efforts this year. Rose All Day needs to improve but looks best of the rest.
