HEADINGLEY looks a smart colt for Mark Johnston to go to war with this year judged on his emphatic Chelmsford success
last October. He is a well-bred son of Dawn Approach and will go and win this well if running up to a mark of 83.
Villeurbanne shaped with promise last year and commands respect on his return, likewise Wor Willie and Carter Cowboy.
Mark Johnston’s string has been typically quick off the blocks this season and HEADINGLEY should provide the
Middleham handler with another winner. Narrowly beaten on debut at Ayr in September, he never saw another rival when
subsequently scoring on the all-weather and appeals as the type to go on to better things in due course. Villeurbanne is
second choice ahead of newcomer Deny Knowledge.
MACK THE KNIFE was denied a four-timer when second over 1m6f at Chelmsford last time but the drop back to 1m4f is expected
to benefit James Ferguson’s charge, who is also sporting first-time cheekpieces. Lady Elysia is holding her form well and is
the one expected to put up most resistance. The pick of the remainder may be Loch Ness Monster, who has Silvestre De Sousa
taking over in the saddle.
